So I do not think iyt is a footpedal issue needing more power… but the Application itself designed to only work plugged into the port on the Mac computer. The strange thing is this foot pedal works just fine w a program called “f5” made in Europe. This is similiar to the external CD writer Apple sells which ONLY works plugged into the Mac USB itself. It would and will not work from an external USB Hub, even a powered USB external hub, nor will it work from a splitter off my Mac Pro USB port. The problem turned out to be that my foot controller had to be plugged into my Mac Pro USB port itself. I can now recommend this application after developer assisted

There are quite a few changes that I can see will affect a very large number of transcription typists around the world with the update to version 5.40 so my advice would be, buy the software.
We actually dropped selling the Philips USB foot pedals for use with Express Scribe a long time ago and have been directing all customers to buy their pedals from the online shop linked to the Express Scribe web site. I close look at the Express Scribe version history also shows that in version 5.40 free edition “ Non-AltoEdge foot pedals should not be available in free version” meaning if you are one of the many people who have purchased a Philips 2310 or 2320 USB foot control it will no longer work with the free edition at this release level.
